Salt, Gold, Steel and Ghosts (Spellbound Kingdoms)
House Anfield are the ruling noble House of Akra and the house of King Lucius I. Their succession is somewhat lopsided, as the King does not die and has never had children. Progressive generations of the ancestors of his brothers, sisters and cousins make up the ranks of Anfield’s nobility. With their complete lack of ability to ascend to the leadership of the House (Anfield nobles have long since given up trying to usurp King Lucius), the Anfields get along surprisingly well for a noble house. Their lack of infighting is part of the reason for their continuing success.
Anfield nobility command the Royal Army and Navy of Akra, preside over the running of Hessek and its surroundings, finance and work for the Dryght and the Kingmen, run the King’s Schools and help Akra continue to be the wealthy and powerful kingdom that it is. Scions of House Anfield have a reputation for being dependable, loyal and trustworthy – enforced by the particularly brutal childhood teaching that the King makes mandatory for his House. There is no adult in House Anfield that does not bear the physical and mental scars of their childhood training.
